What Is The Weight Loss Solution?

It lies in the control of insulin. When you eat carbohydrates your blood glucose levels rise. Too much glucose in your blood is toxic to your body, so your pancreas is instructed to produce insulin which in turn helps to shuttle glucose out of your blood. But, insulin has another function which is to switch off fat burning and to lay down fat. Insulin actually stops your body mobilising fat cells into ketones and hence prevents fat burning. This means that as long as you are eating carbohydrates, your body will not be able to burn fat and become what I like to call a ‘fat-burning animal’! 

In addition, if you keep eating carbohydrates and stimulating insulin, then you may eventually become ‘insulin resistant’. When this happens insulin no longer shuttles glucose out of your blood and hence your blood glucose levels keep rising, ultimately leading to diabetes. The good news is that insulin resistance can be reversed by simply eating a low carbohydrate paleo-keto diet. Simple but not so easy in this Western world of carb-rich diets. Reduce your carbohydrate consumption, get your blood glucose under control, your control of insulin with follow and you will start burning fat for fuel and lose weight.
